Learn About MTABC
Formed in 1988 under the leadership of Gary Rosenberger of Cutter Marine, the goal of the MTABC was to present a proactive voice for the marine-related businesses and communities in eastern Baltimore County.
Over the years, under the dedicated and capable leadership of Bob Palmer of Tradewinds Marina, Ray Porter of Porter’s Seneca Marina, Wayne Miskiewicz of Maryland Marina, John Polek of Sunset Harbor Marina, Raymond N. Porter of Porter’s Seneca Marina, and Brian K. Schneider of Tradewinds Marina all working closely with government, community and business leaders, considerable improvements have been made in the quality and safety of our local waterways.
Through a close relationship with the Marine Trades Association of Maryland, the Department of Natural Resources, the Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce and legislators all around the area, we have kept our membership informed of legislation and various “quality of life” issues that affect recreational boating, as well as waterfront living.
Today, the significance of the new millenuium has been overshadowed by the foresight of former Baltimore County Executives Dutch Rupersberger and Jim Smith and their staffs as they moved ahead with plans for major revitalization fo the waterfront area. The Board of Directors of MTABC are anxiously looking forward to continued growth of our organization, working with Baltimore County Executive John A. Olszewski Jr., and the increasing prosperity of the marine industry in Baltimore County.
As a community-oriented association, MTABC has awarded over $200,000 in scholarships since 1994. MTABC continues to offer enviromential scholarships for students who serve with Back River Restoration Committee. In addition, MTABC supports specialized industry training for its members and their employees.
If you are a business owner who serves the recreational boater in Baltimore County, we encourage you to join and support our efforts to showcase our waterfront as the viable resource we know it can be. Become a part of the action! Contact any of our members or call us at 410-459-6473 for an application.
Those of you who are recreational boaters, we invite you to experience what our local boaters have come to know as one of the very best boating regions on the Chesapeake Bay. Our marinas, boatyards, boat dealers and repair centers offer high-quality services and products. Most of our marinas are within 10 to 20 minutes of major highways and less than 30 minutes from the Bay!
For further information about our organization or for your free copy of the Baltimore County Waterfront Guide, send an e-mail to MTABC or call us at 410-459-6473. May the wind be always at your back.
